A mitre saw is a machine saw for making cross and angle (mitre) cuts in wood. These tools are found in workshops, but can also be used on-site. The mitre saw is designed so that wood is taken to the saw for cutting, rather than to the material, as when using other saws, such as circular saws. Uses for a mitre saw include cutting wood for casings, door and picture frames and architraving. Predominately these tools are mains powered, but cordless versions are available.
- The key criteria needed for choosing a mitre saw is the diameter of the blade to determine the width & depth of cut.
