Hammers are used to drill holes into brick and concrete by using a pulsing hammer action. Some 3-function hammers also have a chiselling function that can help with breaking materials. However, if you are primarily looking to demolish and break down materials a demolition hammer or breaker should be used instead.

A normal multi-function drill can also have a hammer function, which will allow for some light concrete drilling. However, if a lot of this type of work is intended to be carried out then a dedicated hammer would be recommended.
